Dr. Björn Siegel (https://www.igdj-hh.de/en/igdj/team/dr-bjoern-siegel) is a historian and has served as Deputy Director of the Institute for the History of German Jews in Hamburg since 2025. He lectures at the University of Hamburg and co-founded the podcast Jüdische Geschichte Kompakt with Prof. Miriam Rürup. His research focuses on Jewish migration, philanthropy, naval history, and biographical studies.
Alongside Anna Menny, he curated the online exhibition “Nothing. Just Leave!”: Escape from Germany and New Beginnings in Buenos Aires, Montevideo and São Paulo (2022/2024) (https://keydocuments.net/exhibition/emigration-south-america).
