Victoria University of Wellington (Maori: Te Herenga Waka) is a public research university in Wellington, New Zealand.

Originally known as Victoria College or Victoria University College, it was founded in 1897, named after Queen Victoria, on the 60th anniversary of her coronation. Following the dissolution of the University of New Zealand in 1961, it became Victoria University of Wellington and began conferring its own degrees.
