The Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, founded on June 16, 1904, by Louise Dumont and Gustav Lindemann in association with ten partners from industry, administration, and the art academy as a limited liability company, was a private theater that also received municipal subsidies from 1911/12 onwards. In 1932, it merged with the Schauspielhaus Köln under the name “Deutsches Theater am Rhein.”
