The Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg's St. Georg district is Germany's largest theater, with a capacity of 1,200 seats. It was created through a private initiative by citizens and the “Aktiengesellschaft Deutsches Schauspielhaus” (German Theater Corporation), which was founded in 1899.
