The Neue Wiener Bühne was founded by Robert Wiener (co-director Adolf Steinert from Berlin), who signed the lease agreement with Danzer's heirs on August 22, 1908. Under the direction of Emil Geyer, it became a literary stage for expressionist theater, but from 1925 onwards, there was a shift towards entertainment theater.
