Bookseller and co-founder of Herz-Verlag A.G. and editor of three Steyrermühl weekly newspapers: “Neues Wiener Tagblatt” (weekly edition), “Nach der Arbeit” and “Volks-Woche.” He emigrated with his wife Risa (also: Riza) and daughter Susanne, first to Czechoslovakia, then to England, and finally, in early 1940, to the United States, where he resumed his journalistic career. During World War II, he wrote articles for Austro American Tribune, The Christian Century, and the Christian Herald. From 1940 onwards, he also published articles in The Christian Science Monitor, where he became a staff member. Between 1940 and his retirement in 1965, Ernst Pisko wrote hundreds of articles about Europe during the war and post-war period. He last lived in Boston, Massachusetts.
