One of the principal founders of Gestalt psychology or Gestalt theory. From 1929 to 1933, Wertheimer was a full professor of psychology at the University of Frankfurt. In 1933, in light of the rise of National Socialism, Max Wertheimer emigrated via Czechoslovakia to the United States, where he taught at the New School for Social Research in New York from 1933 to 1943.
