The Abraham Geiger College, the first rabbinical seminary in Central Europe after the Shoah, was founded in 1999 as an affiliated institute of the University of Potsdam and officially opened on November 12, 2000. Since 2008, it has also offered a cantor training program. Rooted in the values of liberal Judaism, it combines Jewish traditions with modern scholarly inquiry.
