Bring Your Own Story

A Unique Memento : Sonja Mühlberger’s Wedding Dress

In this personal interview (in German, English subtitles in preparation), Sonja Mühlberger, born Sonja Krips in Shanghai in 1939, tells the story of her wedding dress. The dress, made of Chinese brocade, comprises several layers of memories that refer to the special significance of her birthplace. The Chinese port city of Shanghai was one of the last places where Jewish refugees, including Sonja Mühlberger’s parents, were able to find refuge until 1941.
